Fans of the Oberheim OB-XA and OB-8 have much to celebrate, as Behringer releases footage and audio demonstrating one of their most highly-anticipated product releases, the UB-XA. We can now see and hear a prototype of the instrument, while Behringer is apparently at an important milestone in the development process, now working on the firmware, and even programming the first factory patches.
By all indications, the sounds we are hearing in this demonstration immediately bring to mind some of the most desirable traits characteristic of the classic Oberheim analog sounds. Lush strings, juicy filters, and the sleek future-retro front panel design bring all of the aesthetics fans of the original instruments could ask for, both sonically and visually.
The new synth features a dual mode, allowing two patches to be played simultaneously, and a modulation matrix. This also happens to be the first of Behringer’s line of classic analog clones to feature patch-saving capabilities.
